The NC State Alumni Association is a rich community offering events, resources, service opportunities, book clubs, networking, and much more, encouraging Alums to stay connected and learning with their alma mater and its wider community. One of the most valuable Association’s offerings is career services, which supports members in any step along the career journey. With a small team of dedicated career services professionals all Association members and additionally offering support to non-members in the community of 260,000 living alumni, the Association team decided it was time to roll out a comprehensive and engaging digital presence that would allow more NC State alumni to find the support they needed, at scale.
To build such a space, the Association partnered with uConnect. Together, they built Career Connections, the new virtual career center for the NC State Alumni Association.
“Our new virtual career center empowers us to provide high quality career services to all of our members, and to extend many of our services to the full community of 260,000 living alumni,” says Anna Velleggia, Director of Alumni Career Services at North Carolina State University. ”It is our mission to ensure that all NC State alums are success and supported for the entirety of their post-graduation journeys. The virtual career center platform furthers that mission by helping us reach more alums with a streamlined, user-friendly, and comprehensive career services experience.
On the new virtual career center, alums will find digital ‘Communities’ full of content and opportunities curated specifically for different stages along the career journey, such as Young Professionals, Career Changers, or Established Career Professionals. Each of these Communities is populated with a wealth of dynamic content including jobs, events, news and advice, videos, resources, mentors, and more. Technical integrations between the virtual career center and other systems such ePACK, the University job board, and trusted content providers like The Muse and WayUp, constantly bring new and fresh content into the Communities.
While some resources are available to the entire alumni community, many tools and opportunities are exclusively for Members, including 1:1 coaching, job postings, and specialized resources such as GoinGlobal and CareerShift.
Beyond supporting alums with a rich array of curated resources and supports, the new virtual career center also benefits employer partners, who will have heightened visibility among alums, and who are now able to find everything they need in one spot, including a place to submit job openings and information on recruiting events and job fairs.
“NC State’s commitment to supporting the continued career development of their alums is both inspiring and practical. They’re setting an example that all higher education institutions should look to,” says David Kozhuk, Founder and CEO of uConnect. “We are honored to be supporting the NC State team’s ongoing commitment to ensuring their graduates find lifelong success and fulfillment after graduation.”
