To help college and university career services staff adapt in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, Jeremy Podany, founder of The Career Leadership Collective, has been hosting ‘The New Forward’, an online news and practical strategies series, throughout the spring.
In two recent episodes, Jeremy was joined by several of uConnect's amazing partners.
In Episode 21: Building Digital Communities, Sarah Seavey, Director of Professional Development and Training and Alumni Career Services at University of Miami; William Jones, Senior Director of Career Exploration and Success at Rutgers University-New Brunswick; Michael DeAngelis, Information Technology, Assessment and Social Media Manager, Career Services at the University of Pennsylvania; and Brianna Randall, Executive Director of the Career & Internship Center at University of Washington came on the show as panelists. We’re lucky enough to have all four of these leaders as uConnect partners.
In the episode, Jeremy and the panelists discussed the importance of digital career communities in fostering student success - both before COVID and during the pandemic. Sarah explained how Miami’s online communities are essential to alumni who wish to pivot in their careers. William discussed how Rutgers New Brunswick’s communities are facilitating collaboration between constituencies - students, alumni, and employers. Michael shared Penn’s strategies for connecting with students through student organizations, and Brianna emphasized the importance of always continuing to evolve career communities.
