The Career Connections team at Texas Woman’s University is on a mission to cultivate and grow a career culture on campus.
TWU educates nearly 16,000 undergraduate and graduate students across three campuses and online, and is one of the most diverse universities in the country. The team in the Career Connections Center is deeply committed to ensuring that every student accesses the supports and resources that will help them along their unique journeys, so that each may achieve a meaningful career outcome.
With such a sizable and richly diverse student population studying across over 200 distinct programs, reaching each student with the specific resources, support, and opportunities they need is no small undertaking.
To help, the Career Connections team worked with uConnect to build a new digital career platform, https://careerconnections.twu.edu.
On the Career Connections platform, visitors will find digital ‘Communities’, on which resources, opportunities, news and advice, events, and advisors are curated based on College, such as the College of Business or the College of Nursing; People, such as Alumni or Prospective Students; Affinities, such as First Generation or Multicultural; and Next Steps, such as Interview Prep and Networking. This structure creates a self-service yet customized exploration experience for students and community members, allowing them to discover a wide range of content aligned to specific interests or affinity groups. Visitors to the platform are encouraged to set preferences to indicate interest in any number of Communities. Then, automated newsletters sent from the platform deliver just the content relevant to each users’ unique interests, based on the preferences they’ve set.
