Sacred Heart University Strengthens Commitment to Career-Focus Liberal Arts-Based Education with Virtual Career Center Portal

Strengthening its commitment to career-focused, liberal arts-based education, Sacred Heart University has recently launched a new virtual career center portal for the university community.

The new portal - - aggregates and organizes the full range of career information, resources, tools, and opportunities into one highly accessible space. This allows students to explore and engage with career development content easily, from anywhere at any time -- something which has become that much more important in the recent months as campuses have been forced to shut down and transition to remote learning. The portal also allows faculty and staff to more readily refer students to relevant career resources and opportunities in advising meetings and classes. Alumni will find career support on the new portal as well, and prospective students and families can explore the portal to get a sense of the extensive and diverse career development activity available to Sacred Heart students.

“We are deeply invested in preparing our students to succeed in life after graduation,” says Keith Hassell, Executive Director of Career & Professional Development at Sacred Heart. “This new portal streamlines our students’ ability to access the career development tools they need, and for the entire Sacred Heart community to support them along their journeys. The portal’s launch helps ensure that our students have the best career development experience possible.”

SH computer graphicTo build the portal, Sacred Heart partnered with uConnect, makers of the first all-in-one virtual career center.

On, visitors will find digital ‘Communities’, in which career development resources and opportunities are curated by specific career interests, such as Education or Technology; affinity and identity groups, such as Veterans and International Students;  and steps along a career journey, such as Interview Preparation and Graduate School Advisement. This approach allows visitors to find all of the information and support relevant to a specific interest or stage in one place.
