We’re all excited that 2018 is here, but before we forget all about 2017, we want to remind you of a few of the awesome new features we’ve added to the uConnect network for you!
In early 2017, we developed a compelling new employer update that encourages company and career exploration, in addition to individual job searches. Specifically:
- Employer profiles were reformatted to improve engagement
- Jobs are organized by corresponding employer content to provide students with a deeper perspective
- Featured companies can now be a part of your automated emails to add an additional layer of essential content
UPDATED ADMIN DASHBOARD
We enhanced the overall user experience by updating the style, format and layout to make navigating the platform simpler, more efficient, more intuitive, and a whole lot prettier.
IMPROVED SEARCH FUNCTIONALITY
We updated the search functionality to run on keywords in order to provide more thorough search results. We also organized results into similar content types to make navigating results easier and more effective.
ADDED ‘COMMUNITY EXPERTS’ USER TYPE
We added a new user-type as an option when setting up a user account. You can now assign someone to the role of ‘Community Expert,’ which creates a public facing profile for them and gives them way to contribute content (like a Guest Contributor) without giving them access to your uConnect dashboard. This is perfect for faculty, staff, and advisors at your school who want to be engaged, but who don’t need full admin privileges.
RESOURCE CATEGORY LANDING PAGE
You now have a unique URL provided for every resource category, just like your existing communities! These can be customized for each category with a unique header image and message to your users. Entire categories of resources can be shared as links, helping to connect students to what they need most.
RESOURCE HOMEPAGE CONTENT
In addition to newsfeeds and company profiles, you can now include Resources as the Featured Content block on your homepage! You can adjust this by navigating to ‘Front Page Settings’ in your admin dashboard and selecting ‘Resources’ from the drop-down selection.
RESOURCE EMAIL INCLUSION
Your automated messaging now includes resources! You can adjust the settings for how many resources you’d like included in you automated alerts in your ‘Engage’ section of your admin dashboard.

DATA VISUALIZATION TOOL
This year, we're launching uConnect’s Outcome Data Visualization tool, designed to help schools present the results of their First Destination Surveys to both students and the campus community. The module provides students and stakeholders with self-directed access to historical student outcome data to encourage more purposeful pathways and help students make more informed decisions through their journey.
