👉 November's Mid Month Memo has arrived! Learn how to highlight & leverage your valued employer partners, plus more! 👈
Whether you want to show off your platform for potential employer sponsors or to highlight the employers who already love hiring your students, your uConnect platform can be a fantastic tool to market the employers that you work closest with. Langston University, who launched their uConnect platform this fall, promotes their employer sponsors with robust employer profiles that include job opportunities, social media posts and more. Below, Leonelle Thompson, Director of the Office of Career and Professional Development at Langston University, shares with us the value that she's found in highlighting her employer sponsors with uConnect.
"As with most Career offices, we are usually self-generating, meaning that we have to raise our own funds as funding from our institution is limited. I wanted to ensure that there was a way that the Langston University Office of Career and Professional Development Distinguished Employer partners know how much they are appreciated for not only their financial support, but also for their support of my students. The value in having these [employer profiles] is that it’s another way for employers to build their brand in a unique way and to thank them for their continued support."
Speaking towards what motivated employers to leap at the opportunity to be featured, Leonelle shared, "I think there may have been some FOMO (fear of missing out) taking place. I think employers didn’t want to miss out on being featured prominently and so they were happy to jump on board and do what it takes to be featured. The sponsor feature has benefitted my work because I can point students to the sponsors page to learn more about employers which is great as we still operate in a hybrid environment. The employer doesn’t have to travel to campus for students to learn about their amazing opportunities!
I highly recommend highlighting sponsors. It’s a great way to publicly thank those who make my work possible! When I started with the sponsor feature, I didn’t know if I would have any takers but I soon realized that all I had to do is ask and that employers were more than happy to help out, especially because in the end it all leads to student success!"
We want to help you to highlight employer partners, too! Employer profiles can contain not only job postings, but also video content, social media, taglines, and specific call to action buttons. To get started with building your own employer profile, you can navigate to Publish > Employers & Jobs > Employers. From there, you can select 'Add New' to feature a new employer, or select 'Edit' for an existing employer. Once there, you can complete any fields in the Basic and Expanded Profile tabs to build the Employer Profile!
Are your employers not just partners, but also sponsors of your work? If so, go ahead and toggle the 'Is Sponsor/Partner?' button over to 'Yes!' If you'd like to activate a scrolling sponsor widget, as seen on Langston University's platform below, please reach out to our Support Team through the chat feature on your dashboard or by emailing email@example.com.
We'll be happy to help with any questions on creating employer profiles and labeling employers as sponsors or with suggestions on the best way to promote this new content on your platform. Just reach out!
The following partner institutions are having their uConnect birthdays this month (aka the anniversary of their platform launch, but more fun).
We're wishing a happy 6th birthday to Merrimack College! We're also celebrating the 2nd birthday of University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business & Economics and the 1st birthday of Roger Williams University!
