Are you headed to New Orleans for this year’s #NACE18 conference? We are too! These are some of the things we’re hoping to see when we come up from air from all the fantastic professional development and networking opportunities at NACE. BONUS: Take a selfie of yourself doing any of the activities below and tag us @gouconnect and receive some cool uConnect swag!1. Take a free, guided tour of the NOLA waterfront, courtesy of the National Park Service
Tuesday through Saturday starting at 9:30 am, National Park rangers take one group of 25 visitors on an hour-long, historic tour of the French Quarter (space is limited to the first 25 people who show up). Transit time: 10 minute drive, 15 minute walk.
2. Go see St. Louis Cathedral, and stop somewhere nearby for a beignet
Located in the French Quarter, St. Louis is the oldest Catholic cathedral in the country, founded in 1720. Located near its Jackson Square home is the renowned Café du Monde and other great places to eat. While you’re at it, walk around the famous and historic French Quarter and grab some beignets to keep yourself going! Transit time: Under 15 minutes by car, 20 minutes on foot.
3. Visit the Sculpture Garden near the New Orleans Museum of Art.
Yes this is a little ways off from NACE headquarters, but totally worth it if you've got a little downtime. Set in City Park, the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden stretches across 5 acres of a green space full of wild trees - what better way to welcome in the month of June? There are dozens of sculptures to enjoy, some of which tower over your head! Transit time: 20-25 minutes by car.
4. Stroll the streets and listen to street musicians!
The Big Easy claims to be the city with the most street musicians in the world! Walk outside anywhere, follow your ears, and you should find some. Otherwise, there’s a music festival almost every weekend, so keep your eyes peeled. Click here for upcoming festival information.
5. At your leisure, take a walk down the riverfront
From NACE Headquarters at the Hilton, walk down to the water and head left! Crescent Park, a one and a half mile stretch along the Mississippi, is the perfect place to get close to the water and take in views of the city of New Orleans. Transit time: 15 minute drive, 30 minute walk.
These are just five of the many, many things to do while you’re in NOLA. During official NACE conference hours, look for Team uConnect at booth #706.
